Clear Creek High School DECA Students Earn Gold for School Enterprise

The DECA School-based Enterprise (SBE) chapter from Clear Creek High School has achieved Gold Certification status for the Cat Corner, the school’s retail store. This recognition is held only by a small number of high schools in the state of Texas.
The SBE allows students to operate a real business that sells goods in a practical learning environment. To become a DECA SBE, the students must complete a written project outlining how their business adheres to ten model business standards. Students use marketing and business concepts learned in the classroom to operate the retail store. Recognition is provided for outstanding achievement at three levels: bronze, silver, and gold. SBEs earning Gold-level Certification or Gold Re-certification automatically qualify for DECA’s International Career Development Conference in Anaheim this April.
While in Anaheim, Cat Corner students will attend professional development sessions specific to entrepreneurship, share ideas and learn from other SBEs and compete in an event focused on best practices of retail operations. The students will also be recognized for their Gold Certification status achievement.

To be a member of DECA, students must be enrolled in marketing, finance, hospitality, business management or an entrepreneurship course. DECA is a national organization dedicated to enhancing educational and career opportunities for high school students in these areas.
