Schools across the nation spotlight the achievements of students, but there is not enough credit given to those who make the school feel like a school, like the janitors and lunch staff. Most students seem to take staff for granted, and many agree that these workers do not get as much credit as they should for their crucial efforts. These workers have provided their services to help Creek feel safe and clean.

“Their contributions are very important to the school,” Jake Moorhead (11) said. “They are doing the jobs most people wouldn’t be willing to do.”

The staff that stays after everyone leaves and cleans up the halls and the mess of everyone else, are some of the hardest workers in this school, and many agree that they should be credited way more. The janitors’ jobs include cleaning up the halls, classrooms, outdoors, and other areas. This seemingly small job provides a sense of security, cleanliness, and the school’s general charm through seeing the school from the best lens possible. The duty helps make the school feel brand new almost every day, even after 78 years of this school’s establishment.

“The clean up crew should be appreciated,” Jake Scarburough (11) said. “They keep our school clean and ready each and every day for the challenges of school ahead.”

Having a public lunch system that is as diverse and as unique as the one at Creek is not possible without the help of the lunch staff. Their job is to provide high quality food for the lunch lines, which includes Italian, Mexican, chicken, and American cuisine. This food spawns lines of nearly 30 people in a line at a single time for nearly the entire lunch, making the work of the staff excruciating and makes the ladies one of the hardest working people in the entire school. Without the lunch staff, the school would not have a high quality collection of food come lunch time, and it could be harmful of how the school works.

“The school wouldn’t be functional without the lunch staff,” Anthony Myles (11) said. “This is due to the lack of staff members and food offerings that these people bring.”

The services of these workers provide a massive gateway to the safety and cleanliness of the school. These people have given it their all every day to make students’ lives able to thrive throughout the four years students have in this school, which has gone unnoticed in the school for too long.
