The Japanese company, Nintendo, LLC sets to launch the long-awaited second generation Nintendo Switch Two worldwide on June 5, 2025. Being the successor to the hugely popular Nintendo Switch, fans are excited for the new possibilities that the new console brings.
“I think it’s pretty cool,” Kobe Coleman (12) said. “I like the Switch and the new one looks fun.”
Priced at $450, the new console promises key features such as magnetically attaching and detaching wireless controllers, an enhanced storage space of 256GB, and compatibility with old Nintendo Switch games.
“The controllers might not drift this time,” Coleman said. “The graphics are better”
Some of the most anticipated to be available at release include Mario Kart World, Kirby Air Riders, Metroid Prime 4, and more. On top of that, video games that were previously too complex to run on the previous console, such as Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077, are now set to be available.
“I’m excited for Hollow Knight: Silksong,” Coleman said. “I’ve been waiting for it forever and hopefully it’s not delayed again.”
Nintendo faces skepticism over the initial selling price, as well as worries about tariffs increasing the prices even further. Pre-orders for the console were put on hold indefinitely due to the announcement of tariffs.
“The tariffs could make it more expensive,” Coleman said. “It’s really expensive so I don’t know if I’ll buy it.”
While the console faces difficulties with having a stable price, fans still seem to be excited for it, as parts needed to make the product like computer chips, plastic and metals could change in price. Regardless, the highly anticipated console is set to release just next month.
