The Clear Creek ISD Department of Visual and Performing Arts is proud to announce that intermediate and high school students won 108 Scholastic Art Awards in the 2015-2016 competition.

The winners hail from Brook, Clear Creek High School, Falls, Lake and Springs as well as Clear Lake Intermediate and League City Intermediate schools. Go CREEK!

CCISD is honored to celebrate these students who have demonstrated creativity, originality, and technical proficiency at the highest levels. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. Regional Affiliates also nominate five Gold Key works as Best ¬in¬ Region for both art and writing at the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

“We are thrilled to announce a sculpture created by Madeline Castillo, a senior at Clear Creek High School, has been nominated for a national American Vision Award,” said CCISD Coordinator of Visual and Performing Arts Shara Appanaitis.

Gold Key artwork will be on exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) and the Archway Gallery.

Silver Key winners will be on display at Texas Art Supply, 1507 Baybrook Mall Drive, Friendswood, TX 77546 on February 15 ¬-March 7, 2016.

The awards ceremony for all Gold Key and Silver Key Winners will be at the Harris County Department of Education, 6300 Irvington Boulevard in Houston, Texas 77022 on March 5. The Writing Awards Ceremony is at 10:00 a.m., the Art Awards Ceremony is at 2:00 p.m. and Gold Key winning work will be on display. Gold Key works will be juried again at the national competition in New York, and national results will be available in May. CCISD students earned 27 Gold Keys, 39 Silver and 42 Honorable Mentions.
